Banquet, Drivers' meeting and 2025
The Canadian Super Trucks Banquet and Drivers’ Meeting was held on November 2, 2024 in Wainwright, Alberta. At the drivers’ meeting Series President Dave Vennard discussed the 2024 schedule and the nine races that took place. He congratulated the drivers on their commitment to the entire race schedule, with great truck counts at each race.
A discussion was held on what the drivers would like to see in 2025. All the drivers want to do more travel, so talks have begun with tracks in Saskatoon, Regina, Medicine Hat, Prince George, Penticton, Hythe and Memorial Weekend in Polson, Montana at the Mission Valley Super Oval. We hope to have a tentative schedule before Christmas. Some new trucks are being built for 2025, which will include a return of Neil Fitzgerald, a past Series Champion.
The banquet was a sellout. Saskatoon SSCRA Andy Clewes presented the cheques to the top three drivers, including #67 Kyle O’Connell the 2024 Series Champion. #7 Dave Vennard was in second place and #76 Ryan O’Connell in third. All three received their award winning jackets as well.
Another past Series Champion, Don Saunders, was the MC for the banquet. He presented the first Mona Betcker Builder’s Award to Dale Bletcher for his efforts in first starting the series twenty-eight years ago. This award will be given annually to a person who has helped build the series. Dale built many of the first race trucks for the series and helped administer the series for twenty plus years.
As an added bonus for the series, the national magazine Inside Track did a year end review of the series with editor Greg MacPherson. Special thank you photos of the 2025 Canadian Super Truck Series were presented to the Corporate Contingency Partners for 2024. The banquet was a huge success with a tremendous meal and an entertaining program at a unique venue, #8 Grant Mills’ “man cave”.
